Clover Mites
This picture is greatly enlarged. Clover mites are tiny, dark red creatures, often described as “moving dust”. Appearing in tremendous numbers around windows and doorways in early spring and late summer, they do not bite or damage anything. They can cause reddish stains if smashed on light surfaces. They feed on grasses and clover in lawns (new lawns most susceptible). Clover mites will migrate into the house in the fall and back to the lawn in the spring. Control measures are necessary both indoors and around entire structure. Most problems occur on east and south sides of buildings.
