Millipedes
Millipedes are brownish, 1-1 ½ inches long and shun daylight. The life cycle takes place outdoors in soil and accumulated grass clippings, leaves, etc. Millipedes feed on rotting, organic material. At certain times of the year they become restless, leaving the soil and swarming over basement and first floor rooms of homes. They do no harm to homes or furnishings but can be a terrible nuisances. Keep all accumulation of plant debris, mulch, and similar materials away from the house. Chemical controls are available and are usually applied outside around structures.
